RESEARCH IN BRAZIL

If you are starting your research in Brazil, I suggest taking a look on the webinar below and learn more about how to conduct your research there. Civil registration differs a lot from what you are used in the United States and other countries. Church records in Brazil are mainly under the Catholic Church and in many ways different from Anglican Church, Episcopalian and other Churches from around the word. So if you are a beginner, go first to see the two webinars available for free from Family Search. You can watch them in the comfort of your home and computer for free.

Although the pages below are not in English, they offer an important resource for your genealogical research in Brazil. I added the most important links we have right now. I will continue adding links as they become available. If you need any help, do not hesitate to contact through my email or leave a message at the bottom of this page.

A citation is a must in genealogy. For citing historical records and websites you use in your daily research learn from an expert:

Also within the Family Search website you will find a series of digitized books online about several genealogies covering more than one state, such as Pernambuco, Ceará, Paraíba, São Paulo, Paraná, etc.; many of these books are important references for the construction of your ancestral tree, such as Borges da Fonseca's Nobiliarquia Pernanbucana collection. It is worth checking. You must have a registered account to access the books. See the list here:
